Chonburi, On National Mother’s Day, 12 August, Khao Kheow Open Zoo is offering free admission to children and senior citizens, and is inviting people to vote on the name of the new ‘pygmy hippopotamus’.
Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, revealed that on July 25, 2024, Khao Kheow Open Zoo introduced its newest member, a female pygmy hippopotamus. The mother is named Jonah, 25 years old, and the father is named Tony, 24 years old. The baby was born on July 10, 2024 (almost 1 month old). She is currently healthy, but does not yet have a name. Khao Kheow Open Zoo invites tourists and the general public to join the voting activity to choose the name of the baby pygmy hippopotamus, namely Moo Deng, Moo Daeng, or Moo Sap, with a chance to win prizes from Khao Kheow Open Zoo, including fermented fish sauce pants and fermented fish sauce dolls, souvenirs from the zoo, which are pants and dolls with the image of the capybara, or giant rat, the star of this zoo.
