Jakarta: Indonesian House Speaker Advocates for World Peace and Palestinian Independence

In Jakarta, Puan Maharani, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), emphasized the importance of realizing world order and peace as a fundamental goal of Indonesian independence, in line with the 1945 Constitution. Her statement came during her speech at the Solidarity Act for Palestine, underscoring Indonesia’s long-standing commitment to these principles.

According to Antara News Agency, the plight of the Palestinian people is a matter of grave concern that cannot be accepted by the global community. She reaffirmed Indonesia’s consistent support for Palestinian independence, a stance that has been maintained from the country’s early days of independence through to the current presidency.

Expressing her condolences for the victims of the Israel-Palestine conflict, Maharani extended her sympathies to all who have suffered, including children, men, and women. “I express my deep condolences for the victims who died and the misfortune of the innocent Palestinian people while praying for their peace,” she stated.

Maharani also expressed her hope for the speedy recovery of the injured in Palestine and called for the provision of necessary medical assistance. She urged the Indonesian government to persist in its advocacy for Palestinian independence, emphasizing that independence is a fundamental right of all nations, achievable through concerted effort and cooperation.

In her plea, Maharani called for a cessation of Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people and encouraged the Indonesian community to empathize with the Palestinians’ suffering by continuing to provide aid. She expressed a strong desire for an end to the cruelty of Israeli military actions, advocating for ongoing Indonesian support, including humanitarian assistance, for Palestine.

Additionally, Din Syamsudin, the initiator of the Solidarity Act for Palestine, reminded attendees to refrain from expressing political aspirations towards presidential and vice-presidential candidates present at the event, focusing instead on the solidarity effort for Palestine.

The event highlights Indonesia’s enduring commitment to global peace and the nation’s active role in supporting Palestinian independence and well-being.
