The committee of the Jakarta E-Prix or Formula E Jakarta must apply efficient and effective work for construction of the Formula E Circuit in Ancol, Pademangan, North Jakarta, Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stated.
“The work on the Formula E foundation has complied with the provisions. Technically, at the construction site, reinforcement using bamboo is required. Hence, the use of bamboo in the Formula E circuit work had gone through technical calculations on the field,” Patria noted on Monday.
He later informed people that not all road foundations were made of concrete, and some still needed bamboo for the construction.
He noted that during the pandemic, the committee had to consider the most effective and efficient cost-spending option.
Patria noted that the Formula E committee will have ensured the decision to use bamboo as an effective and efficient material for the circuit.
“The committee had ensured the use of bamboo in the construction of the Formula E circuit. By God’s will, it will be completed in April,” Patria remarked.
Earlier, the person in charge (PIC) of the Formula E circuit construction from PT Jaya Konstruksi Manggala Pratama, Ari Wibowo, explained that the bamboo was chosen to be the framework for the surface of the track since it was water-resistant.
The contractor decided to use bamboo poles based on grounds that out of the five construction zones, zone five along one kilometer had soft soil and working on it posed challenges.
On the other hand, contractors had to expedite their work on account of the fact that the race will be held on June 4, 2022, or just 99 days away.
Wibowo remarked that some 40 percent of the construction was in zone five.
“Hence, zone five is the most difficult and requires the most amount of energy and concentration,” he added.
Since early February, the contractor had completed mapping and cleaning the area and forming the road body to ensure that the shape, height, and bends of the circuit are in accordance with the design.
Furthermore, Wibowo said his side had begun the process of compacting the road and working on the bottom foundation. During that process, stone and rocks are required to be compacted with a tandem roller.
Wibowo noted that the contractor was working hard to build the Formula E circuit. Currently, the work on the Formula E circuit was around 30-percent complete, he noted.
