‘Jiraporn’ reiterates that the government is mobilizing all forces to help flood victims, expediting full relief, thanking volunteers and mourning ‘S The Ark Foundation’ and ‘Chantima Rescue from Nonthaburi’

On September 15, 2024, Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, spoke about the flood situation in Chiang Rai Province and many other areas nationwide, stating that the government, led by Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, is urgently mobilizing all forces to provide assistance to the people in the area. In addition, it is preparing to establish a Flood Relief Operations Center (FLOC) and appoint a committee to manage and administer the flood, storm, and mudslide situation, as well as establish a support center for management and administration to integrate cooperation from all agencies in dealing with this flood situation in order to provide assistance to the victims and restore the area after the water recedes quickly and efficiently.

Ms. Jiraporn stated that she w
ould like to express her condolences to the people who are facing a difficult time due to the severe flood disaster that has affected their homes and properties, especially for families who have lost family members in this flood disaster. However, various government agencies are urgently providing assistance and compensation to the victims as much as possible. As for the Disaster Relief Fund of the Prime Minister’s Office, there is compensation for death, divided into 50,000 baht for funeral expenses, 30,000 baht for living expenses per family, and an additional 50,000 baht per family for living expenses if the deceased has children under 25 years of age. In addition, there is compensation for victims whose homes have been damaged, to help with the cost of construction materials for home repairs, assistance for consumer goods, and other necessary items for victims of disasters in cases where homes have been completely damaged or severely damaged, as well as assistance from other agencies, such as the Departme
nt of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior.

In addition, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, has also prepared to allocate the annual budget for fiscal year 2024, the central budget, the reserve fund for emergency or necessary cases, to be used to provide assistance to those affected by the flood. The disbursement of the central budget will be expedited to help the people as soon as possible.

Ms. Jiraporn added that on behalf of the government, she would like to thank all volunteers from all over the country who have devoted themselves to helping the people. She also expressed her condolences and sympathy to the families of ‘Khun S’, a rescue volunteer from The ARK Foundation Under The Royal Patronage who died of cardiac arrest after helping animals affected by the disaster in Chiang Rai Province, and ‘Khun Chanthima’, a rescue volunteer from Nonthaburi Province who died in an accident while returning from helping flood victims in Chiang Rai Province during the past period. The
government will consider appropriate assistance measures.
