Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, spoke about the results of the Nida Poll’s third quarterly political popularity survey for 2024, which showed that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, was ranked number 1 in popularity, saying that the public’s support is an important encouragement for the Prime Minister and the government to continue working to solve the people’s problems.
In the past, despite facing many obstacles, the government has been determined to overcome the problems and implement the announced policies, many of which have made significant progress, such as the flagship policy of 10,000 baht to revive the Thai economy from the community level, the suspension of farmer debt for 3 years, the reduction
of energy costs, the expansion of the 30-baht universal healthcare project to cover every province nationwide, and the push for the equal marriage law that will come into effect on January 22, 2025. In addition, the government has continued its diplomatic policy to build confidence in Thailand on the world stage by upgrading the Thai passport, accelerating visa-free negotiations, attracting foreign investment from foreign companies directly investing in the country, which helps create jobs for Thais, and the push for the draft Clean Air Act to urgently solve the PM 2.5 problem that affects public health and the country’s economy.
Ms. Jiraporn said that the survey results in which Ms. Paethongtarn was ranked number 1 in popularity were the results of a survey of public opinion that did not include the public’s response to the flagship policy of 10,000 baht to revive the economy, which began on September 25, 2024. She believes that the results of handing out 10,000 baht to the people for them to spend will sti
mulate the economy from the grassroots level to become lively again. There will be an extension with economic policies that will help create a good living for the people in the long term. She believes that this will make the people continuously satisfied with the performance of the government led by Ms. Paethongtarn, which is consistent with the results of the survey of government performance that the people like in September 2024 by Suan Dusit Poll, which found that the 10,000 baht policy was the outstanding performance of the government that more than 61 percent of the people liked, followed by the field visits to help flood victims and the freezing of cooking gas prices for another 3 months. The aforementioned are only some of the policies that have been implemented since becoming the government and will be implemented to continue the success.
Ms. Jiraporn added that the results of the popularity survey are valuable encouragement from the people. However, regardless of whether there is a popularity survey
or not, she insists that the government led by Prime Minister Paethongtarn will continue to work hard to improve the quality of life of the people. She and all cabinet ministers will perform the duties assigned by the Prime Minister to the best of their ability to solve the problems and sufferings of the people.
