“I spend this year’s Eid al-Fitr in Yogyakarta because I want to visit (the Sultan). To the Sultan, Queen Hemas, and the royal family, I wish all of you a happy Eid al-Fitr, apologies for my past wrongdoings,” the president stated.
He then expressed gratitude that his encounter with the Sultan as well as the Eid al-Fitr prayer he earlier performed at the Gedung Agung Presidential Palace had all been conducted smoothly.
“The Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Gedung Agung Presidential Palace has been conducted well and smoothly, and praise be to God, we can celebrate Eid al-Fitr again this year,” Jokowi stated.
The president also affirmed that Eid al-Fitr celebrations in all regions of Indonesia had been conducted safely and smoothly.
“Earlier this morning, we have monitored (the Eid al-Fitr celebration) in all cities and provinces, which have been organized smoothly,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Hamengkubuwono X clarified that no political or economic discourses were discussed during his encounter with Jokowi.
“We have discussed nothing about political or economic affairs, none at all. This is just a warm-hearted encounter,” the Sultan, concurrently the governor of Yogyakarta, remarked.
