Hanoi – Nearly 300 athletes from Vietnamese localities, clubs, and Japan competed in a Judo tournament, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations. The event, which was part of the Vietnam-Japan Culture Week, took place in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau from November 9 to 11.
According to Vietnam News Agency, The Japan team emerged as the top performers at the tournament, securing seven gold medals. They were followed by the host team, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, which clinched one gold, three silver, and four bronze medals. The Vietnam team concluded the event with three silver and four bronze medals.
In addition to commemorating diplomatic ties, the tournament also coincided with the 2023 Open Judo Championship Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial Sports Training and Competition Centre led this championship, winning three gold, three silver, and five bronze medals.
