Just change the name, sales skyrocketed “Khanom Jak Yak Jer”

Ratchaburi, A dessert vendor from Suan Phueng District has a clever idea to change the name of her dessert, resulting in sales increasing to 1,000 baht per day.

During this long holiday, we will take you to taste a Thai dessert that many people love, which is ‘Khanom Chak’ from Aunt Jamroen in Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province. Many customers have tried it and liked its sweet and creamy taste and the light fragrance of using Chak leaves to wrap it. Importantly, this shop also has a unique recipe. Normally, other shops will use young coconut meat, but this shop uses thick coconut milk, which makes many people love its taste and deliciousness.

Aunt Jamroen revealed that the dessert recipe came from her mother decades ago. It is an ancient recipe that is sweet and fragrant from palm sugar and also adds pandan leaves to enhance the fragrance. It can be stored for several days. As for changing the name from ‘Khanom Chak’ to ‘Khanom Chak Yak Jeaw’, the idea came from her son. One day, her son came to her
and said, ‘If you can’t sell anything like this, I’ll give you a new name. It’s ‘Khanom Chak Yak Jeaw’.’ So, she changed it according to her son’s suggestion. After changing to this name, her sales skyrocketed from 300 baht per day to over 1,000 baht per day. She sells 6 pieces per bundle for 30 baht. On Saturdays and Sundays, she rides a motorcycle with a sidecar to sell in the village and nearby areas.
