KAI disburses free train vouchers to mark Heroes’ Day

State-owned train operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is distributing 11 thousand free ticket vouchers to health workers, teachers, and veterans in commemoration of Heroes’ Day.

The vouchers will be valid on November 8-30, 2021.

“KAI would like to thank teachers who are unsung heroes, health workers who have served the community tirelessly amid the pandemic, and veterans who have contributed to Indonesia’s independence,” vice president of public relations at PT KAI, Joni Martinus, said in a statement, accessed online from here on Friday.

Civil servants and contract teachers for formal education for early childhood to secondary levels at both public and private schools can avail the vouchers, he said.

In addition, all health workers except doctors (midwives, nurses, pharmacists, health administrative staff, and ambulance drivers) from any clinic, health center, or hospital also have the right to use the vouchers, he added.

Furthermore, members of the Veterans Legion of the Republic of Indonesia are also entitled to the vouchers, he informed.

The rewards can be obtained from November 7-29, 2021 at the counter or customer service at 12 stations—Gambir, Bandung, Cirebon, Semarang Tawang, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Madiun, Surabaya Gubeng, Jember, Medan, Kertapati, and Tanjung Karang, he said.

The vouchers will only be valid for trains departing from the area where they are obtained — for instance, vouchers obtained at Gambir Station will only be valid for the trains departing from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations, he explained.

To receive the voucher, recipients will need to show their original identity card and a copy of their card or certificate showing they are teachers, health workers, or veterans, as the voucher collection cannot be represented, except for veterans, he said.

One identity can only be used to gain one voucher for one trip in executive or economy class, he added.

Still, the voucher recipients will have to meet the travel requirements, for instance, they will need to carry a vaccination certificate and a negative antigen result taken a maximum of 1×24 hours before departure, Martinus said.

“They will have to conduct an antigen rapid test at their own expense, which will cost Rp45 thousand if conducted in the station area,” he added.

More information regarding the program can be obtained through the KAI Contact Center (121), WhatsApp (08111-2111-121), e-mail (cs@kai.id), or social media (KAI121), he said.

Earlier, PT KAI had conducted the same program in 2020 by distributing 10 thousand ticket vouchers to teachers and health workers.
