Kanchana Advocates for 2026 Agriculture Budget to Empower Farmers

Bangkok: Ms. Kanchana Changwat, Chaiyaphum MP of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), delivered a speech in support of the draft of the 2026 Budget Act, emphasizing the vital role of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in empowering farmers through improved access to land and credit.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry has been allocated a budget of 133,177 million baht for 2026, marking an increase of approximately 6.2 percent from the previous year. Ms. Kanchana highlighted the struggles faced by her constituents in Chaiyaphum Province, where many individuals lack ownership of land for farming or living. The inability to use state land as collateral for loans further exacerbates their economic exclusion.

Ms. Kanchana expressed gratitude to the Ministry for initiatives aimed at improving land title deeds, particularly in ALRO areas, which would facilitate their use as financial collateral. The extension of policies like the tree title deed initiative was also commended, as it would allow farmers to leverage land assets such as rubber trees for financial gain. She emphasized that these measures are crucial for unlocking economic opportunities and developing the household economy.

Furthermore, Ms. Kanchana acknowledged the efforts of Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao and Ms. Narumon Pinyosinwat in prioritizing land asset policies to assist the impoverished. She proposed additional budget allocations for integrated data management systems and development in newly allocated Sor Por Kor areas, including resources for water, soil management, and transportation infrastructure. Training programs for farmers to enhance financial literacy were also suggested.

Ms. Kanchana concluded by reiterating the need for a stable foundation for farmers, asserting that land rights without development or access to capital remain insufficient. She voiced her support for the 2026 budget bill and urged the Ministry to utilize the budget effectively to enhance the livelihoods of Thai farmers.

In her speech, Ms. Kanchana was observed participating in the debate from the Klatham Party area, focusing her attention on governmental sectors related to the Klatham Party.
