Bangkok: His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen participated in a royal merit-making ceremony by offering Kathin robes via a royal barge procession at Wat Arun Ratchawararam. The event was marked by the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya and His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti Maha Vajirottama Sirivibulya Rajakumar.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremonial proceedings commenced at 3:14 p.m. as the royal family departed Amphorn Sathan Throne Hall, Dusit Palace, and traveled to Wasukri Pier. From there, they boarded the Suphannahong Royal Barge. Dignitaries, including Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra and National Assembly President Mr. Wan Muhammad Nor Matha, were present to welcome Their Majesties.
The royal barge procession, consisting of 52 royal barges and 2,412 personnel, moved along the Chao Phraya River from Wasukri Pier to Wat Arun Ratchawararam Pier. His Majesty has shown dedication to Buddhism by performing royal merit-making
on significant Buddhist occasions. This procession was part of the celebrations for His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.
At Wat Arun Ratchawararam, the King performed traditional rituals, including placing the monk’s robe on a tray before the principal Buddha image and offering small golden objects to honor royal ancestors. His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti presented Kathin robes to the monks, while the royal family received replicas of the Buddha Nimit from the abbot.
The ceremony concluded with His Majesty paying respects at various altars, followed by his return to the royal car, marking the end of the auspicious event.
