King Appoints Narong Klanwarin as New Election Commissioner

Bangkok: His Majesty the King has appointed Narong Klanwarin as an Election Commissioner, following the resignation of Pakorn Mahannop from the role.

According to Thai News Agency, the appointment was made after Pakorn Mahannop resigned due to reaching the age of 70, creating a vacancy in the Election Commission. The Royal Gazette website published the official announcement of this appointment.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun issued a royal command, highlighting that Narong Klanwarin’s appointment is in line with Section 222 (2) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand. The Senate has confirmed that Narong Klanwarin meets the qualifications and possesses no prohibited characteristics for the role.

The appointment is also in accordance with Sections 8 and 12 of the Organic Act on the Election Commission of 2017. The announcement, released on August 30, 2025, states the appointment by Mr. Mongkol Surasajja, President of the Senate, who received the Royal Command.
