Bangkok: Krungsri Consumer is accelerating the expansion of the credit card market for the new generation, increasing the diversity of customer groups, launching the new 'Central The 1 Credit Card' with an enhanced privilege level, stating that spending via the Central The 1 Credit Card in the first half of the year continued to expand.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Athit Rujirawat, Chief Executive Officer of Krungsri Consumer, revealed details about the current credit card market. Krungsri Consumer holds approximately 5.5 percent of the market share, with spending via cards having grown threefold compared to 2017. The brand image adjustment and the launch of the new Central The 1 credit card align with the development of various financial products, including credit cards, personal loans, and installment loans. This initiative is part of the strategy to foster business growth alongside Krungsri Consumer's main partners.
Mr. Chiwin Prachananupon, Managing Director of General Card Services Co., Ltd., highlighted that the new image of the Central The 1 credit card focuses on a simple yet modern design that resonates with the lifestyle of the new generation. The card offers discounts of up to 10 percent for all businesses within the Central Group and includes special privileges at hotels in the Centara and SALA groups. The company anticipates that these features will boost spending via the card. From January to June 2025, spending via the Central The 1 credit card reached 62.4 billion baht, marking a 5 percent growth. The top three categories with the highest growth in spending within the Central Group for the first half of the year were Central Online, restaurants in the CRG Group, and Thai Watsadu.
