Lai Chau, Vietnam – The second Open Putaleng Long Distance Paragliding Tournament commenced on November 24 in Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province, bringing together nearly 100 pilots from across the globe. The event includes participants from countries such as Australia, the US, the Republic of Korea, the UK, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, France, and China.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the tournament offers an excellent opportunity for pilots to exchange skills and experiences. It also serves as a platform to promote paragliding in Vietnam. The event is not only a sporting occasion but also a means to showcase the natural beauty, culture, and people of Tam Duong district and Lai Chau province, aiming to attract more visitors and investors to the region. The competition, which includes categories for both Vietnamese and international pilots, is set to conclude on November 26. Putaleng mountain, part of the Hoang Lien Son range, serves as a stunning backdrop for the tournament. Standing at 3,049 meters, it is the second-highest peak in Indochina, after Fansipan.
