Bangkok: Lawyers prepare to visit Thaksin again next week. In an incident at Klong Prem Central Prison this afternoon, it was reported that Mr. Winyat Chatmontri, the personal lawyer for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, traveled to the prison to request a visit with Mr. Thaksin.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters asked Attorney Winyat, who briefly stated that he had not yet visited today because he was currently in quarantine. He said he would contact the Department of Corrections to visit again after completing the five-day quarantine period. He expected to visit again on September 15th.
It was also reported that the Shinawatra family did not leave any special instructions with the legal team, as they assumed discussions had taken place yesterday before he was sent to prison. Regarding his regular medication, his family also left it with him yesterday. Thaksin takes medication for his chronic conditions, such as high blood pressure and heart disease, but they declined to disclose the specific medications, as there are many.
Regarding the Department of Corrections’ transfer of Mr. Thaksin from Bangkok Remand Prison to Klong Prem Central Prison, the family has no objections, as a convicted prisoner is not a prisoner under trial. It’s also likely a security concern, and it’s in accordance with regulations.
