Bangkok: Linthiporn Warinwatcharoj, the Deputy Minister of Education, has revealed her contemplation of resigning from her position as a Pheu Thai Party-list Member of Parliament (MP) following her appointment as Deputy Minister. Her decision is driven by a desire to focus on her administrative duties without the distractions of a legislative role.
According to Thai News Agency, Linthiporn expressed that her intention to resign from the MP role was clear from the onset of her ministerial appointment. She explained that the responsibilities within the legislative branch, which include legislative considerations and budget oversight, differ significantly from those in the executive branch, where policy-making and implementation are prioritized. Linthiporn emphasized the importance of ensuring that policies are effectively implemented and monitored intensively.
Linthiporn clarified that her decision to resign is personal and not influenced by party seniors, as some media reports have suggested. She intends to concentrate on her role in the Ministry of Education for the first three months, underscoring her commitment to her new position. Linthiporn also addressed concerns about the potential risks of leaving her MP position, stating that her focus is on achieving results and building her reputation through her work, rather than being attached to any specific role.
In response to queries about her potential vulnerability if she resigns as an MP, Linthiporn highlighted the importance of focusing on achievements rather than positions. She stated that regardless of her political role, she always strives to perform beyond expectations and is not concerned about her future in politics.
