Ekitike's celebration led to a second yellow card, resulting in his expulsion from the game. Despite this setback, Liverpool maintained their lead, finishing the match 2-1 and securing their place in the next round.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed his disappointment over Ekitike's red card, labeling it as unnecessary and unwise.
