Madam Pang Dismisses Ishii, Appoints Anthony Hudson as New Thai National Team Coach

Bangkok: Madam Pang, Nualphan Lamsam, president of the Football Association of Thailand, revealed that the dismissal of Masatada Ishii from his role as head coach of the Thai national team is a normal occurrence in the world of football. She is now preparing to introduce Anthony Hudson as the new head coach.

According to Thai News Agency, Madam Pang issued a statement on Facebook addressing the contract termination with Ishii, stating that the decision was based on a meticulous evaluation of performance using technical statistics. She emphasized that changing head coaches is common globally if results are not visible.

Since Coach Ishii’s appointment, he received complete support and freedom in his work. However, the team’s elimination from the second round of World Cup qualifiers and the failure to win the ASEAN Football Championship in 2024 prompted the decision. The association’s technical department requested the termination, treating Ishii politely and compensating him with half of his total salary until the end of the contract.

The association has appointed Anthony Hudson, the technical development director, as the new head coach. Hudson, who has previously held head coach positions in the United States, New Zealand, and Bahrain, is considered the most suitable candidate. He is set to be introduced this afternoon.

The Thai national team will play a friendly match against Singapore on November 13th and face Sri Lanka in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on November 18th.
