Nakhon pathom: A significant raid conducted by the Department of Livestock Development in collaboration with the Consumer Protection Police Division has led to the seizure of illegal animal drugs and red meat accelerators valued at over 100 million baht. The operation targeted three major production sites in Nakhon Pathom Province.
According to Thai News Agency, authorities including representatives from the Food and Drug Administration, Livestock Region 7, and the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Livestock Office, executed the raid. The collaborative effort was sparked by a complaint received via the Department of Livestock Development’s website on October 10, 2024, concerning the large-scale production and distribution of these illegal substances, which suspected violations of the Animal Feed Quality Control Act B.E. 2558 and the Drug Act B.E. 2510.
The investigation led to Pathom Intertrade Co., Ltd. in Kamphaeng Saen and Bang Len districts, where officials discovered unregistered animal drugs and feeds containi
ng red meat accelerators. The facilities, owned by the same individual, lacked the necessary licenses for producing and selling animal feed and medicines, leading to significant legal breaches.
The seized items totaled 240 pieces of evidence, including unregistered animal drugs, feeds mixed with accelerators, and production equipment, collectively valued at approximately 100,434,840 baht. Suspects were arrested and handed over to the Consumer Protection Police Division 2 for further legal action.
Authorities have issued a warning to consumers urging them to purchase animal medicines and food products only from reliable, registered sources to ensure safety and compliance with the law. Violations related to unregistered products are subject to severe penalties under both the Animal Feed Quality Control Act and the Drug Act.
