Chonburi: A young man reportedly under the influence of drugs violently assaulted his girlfriend in her condominium, prompting a swift police response that ultimately saved her life. The suspect, identified as Mr. Koo Kiat, 38, was apprehended after officers from Na Chom Thian Police Station stormed the building in response to a desperate plea for help.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident unfolded around 9:00 PM when a team of more than 20 officers, along with local government officials, surrounded a seven-story condo in Soi Ton Hat Na Chom Thian. The operation was launched after the female owner of a fourth-floor room contacted the building’s management for assistance, following a violent encounter with her boyfriend.
The situation escalated as officers attempted to negotiate with Mr. Koo Kiat via mobile phone and through his sister, but he remained agitated and paranoid. When attempts at persuasion failed, officers were forced to gain entry to the condo with the help of the building manager. They
found Mr. Koo Kiat hiding in a second-floor room and took him into custody.
Ms. Sujittra, the 32-year-old girlfriend, recounted that she had ended her relationship with Mr. Koo Kiat earlier that day after discovering he had been communicating with another woman. The breakup triggered Mr. Koo Kiat’s aggressive behavior, leading to the initial assault. Fearful for her safety, Ms. Sujittra locked herself in her room and alerted condo management.
Ms. Sujittra admitted to occasionally using drugs with Mr. Koo Kiat but insisted that the drugs discovered by police belonged to him. Mr. Koo Kiat had previously been arrested for drug possession and was on bail, wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet, which he reportedly cut off before the assault.
Mr. Koo Kiat is now facing charges of possession of crystal methamphetamine, trespassing at night, and assault. He has been taken to Na Chom Thian Police Station for further legal proceedings.
