Bangkok: MEA receives Gold Emblem of Sustainability award from AREA 2025, reflecting its commitment and continuous success in developing sustainability in Asia.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ditchawat Chan-ee, Deputy Governor of MEA or the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, along with Mrs. Nipa Thamboworn, Assistant Governor of MEA, were present to receive the award at The Athenee Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok. This accolade, part of the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2025, recognizes MEA as a leading Asian organization in sustainability reporting, adhering to GRI international standards and supporting societal development. This achievement underscores MEA's dedication to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The awards received by MEA include the prestigious Gold Emblem of Sustainability and the Gold Level Hall of Fame award, acknowledging organizations with notable achievements and consistent recognition over eight years on the AREA stage. Previous honors include the Green Leadership Award in 2018, Investment in People Award in 2020, Social Empowerment Award in 2021, and the Corporate Governance and Corporate Sustainability Reporting awards in 2024.
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award highlights MEA's commitment to transparent disclosure and sustainable operational practices in alignment with Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) standards. Additionally, the Social Empowerment Award acknowledges MEA's efforts in community care and development, particularly in Bon Kai, to enhance quality of life and promote sustainable self-reliance.
Now in its 16th year, the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) is organized by Enterprise Asia, a non-profit dedicated to fostering social benefits and sustainable business development in Asia.
