Meteorological Department Issues Warning for Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain in Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning stating that thunderstorms and heavy rain will persist in several areas across Thailand. The department attributes this weather pattern to the prevailing monsoon, which is expected to result in challenging conditions including significant rainfall. Additionally, the Andaman Sea is predicted to experience waves reaching heights of up to 2 meters.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department has detailed that the moderate southwest monsoon impacting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is responsible for these weather conditions. A low-pressure cell hovering over northern Vietnam further exacerbates the situation. As such, residents in affected regions are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against the potential dangers posed by the heavy rain.

The announcement also highlights that waves in the Andaman Sea are currently moderate, with the upper section experiencing waves approximately 2 meters high. In areas experiencing thunderstorms, wave heights may exceed 2 meters. Consequently, sailors navigating the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to exercise caution and avoid areas where thunderstorms are prevalent.
