The Meteorological Department revealed that there will still be continuous rain in all regions. Warnings for the North and Northeast to prepare for heavy rain and strong winds. Watch out for storm “Yagi” moving towards the coast of Vietnam.

The Meteorological Department reported that the Northeastern, Eastern and Western Southern regions will experience heavy rain in some areas. The Northern region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the Eastern Southern region will experience heavy rain in some areas. People in the aforementioned areas should beware of the dangers of heavy rain and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially on hillsides near waterways and lowlands. They should also beware of the dangers of strong gusts of wind, as the southwest monsoon is quite strong and is covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

For waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, they are quite strong with waves 2-3 meters high. In areas with thunders
torms, waves are higher than 3 meters. In the lower Gulf of Thailand, waves are 1-2 meters high. Far from the shore and in areas with thunderstorms, waves are higher than 2 meters. Sailors in the aforementioned areas are asked to sail with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from sailing from the shore until September 8, 2024.

In addition, Typhoon ‘Yagi’ (YAGI) in the Gulf of Tonkin is expected to make landfall in northern Vietnam today (7 September 2024), after which it will weaken into a tropical storm and then a depression. This will cause heavy to very heavy rain in the North and upper Northeastern regions, with strong winds in some areas, during 7-8 September 2024.
