Meteorological Department warns of heavy to very heavy rain in many areas

The Meteorological Department warns the lower North, Northeast, Central, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the western coast of the South of Thailand that there will be heavy rain in some areas and very heavy rain in some areas of the East.

The Meteorological Department forecasts the weather for the next 24 hours: The lower North, the Northeast, the Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the western coast of the South will experience heavy rain in some areas, with very heavy rain in some areas of the East. People in the aforementioned areas should beware of the dangers of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially on hillsides near waterways and lowlands. They should also beware of the dangers of strong gusts of wind. This is because the moderate monsoon trough is passing through the lower North, the Central region, and the lower Northeast region, along with the southwest monsoon blowing over the Andaman Sea, the South, and
the Gulf of Thailand, which is quite strong. Meanwhile, a low-pressure cell is covering the Central region.

For the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, they are quite strong with waves 2-3 meters high. In areas with thunderstorms, the waves are higher than 3 meters. In the lower Gulf of Thailand, the waves are 1-2 meters high. Far from the shore and in areas with thunderstorms, the waves are higher than 2 meters. Sailors in the aforementioned areas are asked to sail with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from sailing from the shore until September 8, 2024.

For the severe tropical storm “Yagi” in the upper South China Sea, there is a tendency for it to intensify into a typhoon. It is expected that during 6-7 September 2024, it will move through Hainan Island, China and make landfall in northern Vietnam. After that, it will gradually weaken. This will cause the northern and upper northeastern
regions to have

heavy rain in some areas during 7-8 September 2024.
