Metropolitan Police arrests ‘fake doctor’ performing illegal abortions in Pratunam area

Metropolitan Police investigators raided an illegal abortion clinic in the Pratunam area. Initially, the doctor performing the procedure at the clinic denied performing abortions and said that he only provided general medical treatment.

Police officers from the Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau led a force to search an illegal abortion clinic inside a four-story commercial building in Soi Petchburi 31, Makkasan Subdistrict, Ratchathewi District, Bangkok after receiving a tip from the public that the clinic was providing illegal abortions. While conducting the search, officers found a fake doctor without a license injecting something into a patient on the bed. They took him in for further questioning at the Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

While being taken to the car, the doctor at the clinic denied performing abortions and had a valid medical license. He insisted that when the police searched, he was injecting glucose into patients, not any abortion medicati
on. Most of the people who came were there to treat general illnesses. He claimed that someone was harassing him and asked the court to decide.

Ms. Kaew, 59 years old, a relative of the owner of the building that is renting out, gave information that the clinic does not perform abortions, but is a general medical clinic. This doctor is a real doctor, providing treatment for general illnesses. As for abortions, to be honest, she has never seen him perform abortions. Normally, only sick people come to clean their wounds and receive general treatment. As far as she knows, he only provides saline drips. He has never performed abortions. However, whether there are injections or not, she personally has never seen him provide injections for abortions.

The clinic has one and a half floors. The ground floor is an examination room and the mezzanine is an IV room with two beds. The former owner was another doctor, but he transferred the care to another doctor.
