Military units rush to help flood victims in Wiang Pa Pao District, Chiang Rai Province, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province, and Hang Chat District, Lampang Province.

Lt. Col. Chuthaphat Prembundit, Assistant Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Army, revealed that the continuous heavy rain in the northern region has caused the amount of water in the soil to accumulate and cause flash floods, overflowing onto roads and houses of the people, especially in Wiang Pa Pao District, Chiang Rai Province, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province, and Hang Chat District, Lampang Province. The Royal Thai Army Disaster Relief Center has been closely monitoring the situation and has coordinated with the Disaster Relief Centers of military units in the affected areas to arrange personnel and equipment to relieve the disaster together with various government agencies to urgently help the people as follows:

In Wiang Pa Pao District, Chiang Rai Province, 7 sub-districts, 29 villages, and 1,023 households were affected, includin
g Sansalee Sub-district, Wiang Sub-district, Ban Pong Sub-district, Pangiew Sub-district, Wiang Kalong Sub-district, Mae Chedi Sub-district, and Mae Chedi Mai Sub-district. The Disaster Relief Center of the 37th Infantry Division and volunteers of the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment evacuated more than 90 students from Nuchanat Anusorn School who were affected by flash floods in Pangiew Sub-district to a safe area at the Wiang Pa Pao District Office. They also provided support to the Wiang Pa Pao District Incident Command Center in monitoring the situation, providing assistance to the people, laying sandbags to protect important areas and communities, and providing close support for the operation.

Meanwhile, in Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province, the Disaster Relief Center of the 33rd Army Circle, by the Mobile Disaster Relief Unit of the 7th Infantry Division, along with equipment and vehicles, together with government agencies and local administrative organizations, provided assistance to
people affected by flash floods in Ban Huai Cho, Ban Ton Kaew, Ban Thong Fai, and Ban Hong in Tambon Mae Ram. They helped evacuate people to safe areas and moved household items to higher ground.

In Hang Chat District, Lampang Province, floodwater from Doi Khun Tan overflowed into Huai Mae Tan and flooded over 500 houses, damaging roads and eroding roads, making travel in the area impossible. The 32nd Army Circle Disaster Relief Center organized a disaster relief team and volunteers, along with other agencies, to deliver consumer goods to the people in the area. In addition, a medical team was sent to provide health checks and medicine to alleviate the suffering and closely monitor the situation in order to provide timely assistance to the people.

The Royal Thai Army is ready to use its personnel, equipment and military tools to help the people affected by floods in all forms and to be a source of refuge for the people at all times.
