Through this double degree program, I hope that you form new networks and relations abroad
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Transportation Ministry’s Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDM) has awarded 78 scholarships for a double degree master’s program in transportation studies as part of efforts to improve human resource quality in the transportation sector.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the scholarship program has been rolled out to develop human resources, who are reliable, competitive, innovative, and have integrity as well as ethics, in the transportation sector.
The scholarships have been awarded to 64 civil servants from the Transportation Ministry, 5 civil servants from regional governments, and 9 employees of state-owned enterprises in the transportation sector.
“Through this double degree program, I hope that you form new networks and relations abroad,” Sumadi told the recipients at a ‘Studium Generale’ virtual event on Thursday.
“I hope that all of you are the chosen people that can produce an idea, research theory, innovation, and contribute to the advancement of the national transportation sector,” the minister remarked.
He asserted that the scholarship recipients should direct their attention to the four soft skills that they need to develop: the ability to think critically, creativity, the ability to collaborate, and communication skills.
Sumadi also urged the recipients to develop useful theses for the advancement of transportation.
The double degree master’s program is a tailor-made study program that has been offered through BPSDM’s collaboration with domestic and international universities, he said.
The universities include the University of Indonesia (UI) and England’s University of Leeds for the Road Transportation Program; Gajah Mada University and England’s University of Leeds for the Train Program; Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) and Netherland’s Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) for the Sea Transportation Program; and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and France’s Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) for the Air Transportation program.
