Hanoi: About 315,000 poor and near-poor households across the country are currently facing significant housing issues and require support, the Ministry of Construction has revealed.
According to Vietnam News Agency, MoC Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh highlighted the challenges during a recent review of housing support programs. In the ongoing 2021-2025 period, the government has initiated two national target programs specifically aimed at aiding these vulnerable groups. These initiatives focus on accelerating socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas, and on sustainable poverty reduction. Deputy Minister Sinh emphasized the government’s commitment to these programs and noted the substantial progress made so far. Thanks to a range of housing support policies, more than 1 million houses have been constructed, benefiting approximately 4 million individuals from policy-supported and impoverished households.
The Ministry’s report underscores the continuing need for robust sup
port systems to ensure that housing accessibility keeps pace with the needs of the poorest segments of the population. The ongoing efforts are part of a broader strategy to mitigate socio-economic disparities and enhance living conditions for all citizens, particularly those in geographically and economically disadvantaged positions.
