The Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Ministry is preparing frequency spectrum to offer telecommunication services and safety as the G20 Summit Conference draws near, Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate noted through a statement, Wednesday.
“The ministry is preparing the telecommunication network not just the network in Bali but also around locations where Indonesia’s G20 Presidency activities are held,” he stated at a coordination meeting in Bali.
Bali has 7,500 4G base transceiver station (BTS) towers and 30 5G BTS towers. The government prepares a backup network to anticipate network problems during the G20 Summit.
The ministry also prepares regulation if the network needs the international network channel.
For navigation and aviation safety, the ministry has tasked the Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Center with monitoring frequency in the air territory of Surabaya (East Java), Banyuwangi (East Java), Denpasar (Bali), and Mataram (West Nusa Tenggara).
“We have already prepared the Spectrum Frequency Analyzer equipment to analyze the entire spectrum that moves here for the flight safety of VVIPs to avoid interception and interference,” Plate stated.
“This necessitates cooperation between Kominfo, the Air Force, and the Transportation Ministry,” he remarked.
The government also readies three-layered surveillance system mechanisms to monitor network availability and bandwidth. Kominfo has a monitoring center to keep track of the quality of telecommunication service and the condition of Indonesia’s digital space.
“Kominfo monitors the bandwidth quality of service and quality of experience across Indonesia. Thereafter, through the BLU Bakti surveillance system, Kominfo monitors the satellite network, radio link network, and fiber optic network,” he noted.
“Moreover, Ditjen Aptika’s (Informatics Application Director General’s) cyber drone fully operates to monitor the condition of Indonesia’s digital space, such as the spread of fake news conducted based on lawful interception,” he added.
