The Ministry of Social Affairs will involve children during the commemoration of Heroes’ Day 2021, on November 10, that will feature a visit to the heroes graves as well as a ceremony.
“This is our mission to make children understand that the independence that we gained was not granted, not a gift, but was fought for,” Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini noted.
During the Heroes’ Day press conference here on Friday, Rismaharini said that her ministry was still proposing to the Presidential Secretariat to involve children during the singing of the fighters’ song accompanied by traditional music.
In addition, the ministry’s other suggestion included inviting children to scatter flowers at the heroes graves and in the ocean as well as to participate in the Heroes’ Day official ceremony, she noted.
The ministry is coordinating with the Navy Main Base for the ceremony to scatter flowers in the ocean, with Garnisun (military law enforcer) for the Heroes’ Day ceremony, and with the Presidential Military Secretariat for the heroes award, she noted.
“On (November) 15, we will gather children from all across Indonesia. Starting from here, the plan is to have a tour event in all of Indonesia,” the minister remarked.
“They will visit the heroes graves as well as museums, so that they understand the history of the heroes,” Rismaharini affirmed.
In addition to graves and museums, the children will visit battle sites. Furthermore, they will be edified by the members of Garnisun and veterans, she elaborated.
The Heroes’ Day activity was planned to involve 100 to 200 children and the youth committee from the hero family association, she stated.
In future, the minister expects the Heroes’ Day Program to involve all school children to build their spirit and to nurture their love for the nation.
