The number of Mobile Money service users in Vietnam reached more than 8.8 million customers by the end of May, an increase of 3.3% over the same period last month. The number of customers in rural, mountainous and remote areas reached more than 6.3 million customers, accounting for 72% of customers using Mobile Money services. Mobile Money is a service that uses telecommunications accounts to pay for goods and services of small value. The service is licensed by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to pilot nationwide for a period of two years, from November 18, 2021 to November 18, 2023.
