Motorcycle Thief Arrested After Leaving Key in Ignition in Buriram Province

Phutthaisong: A young man, identified as Mr. Komkrit or Louis, was arrested in a forest after stealing a motorcycle in Buriram Province. He denied any wrongdoing, claiming he merely intended to park the stolen motorcycle before stealing another vehicle. The incident unfolded when the owner of the motorcycle reported the theft to Phutthaisong Police Station after witnessing the crime.

According to Thai News Agency, the owner, Ms. Duangrudee, 57, from Tambon Mafueang, pursued the thief after he drove away with her motorcycle, a red and black HONDA SCOOPY, parked with the key in the ignition. Despite her efforts, she was unable to catch up, prompting a police investigation that led to the identification of the perpetrator as Mr. Louis, a resident of Daeng Yai Subdistrict, Ban Mai Chaiyaphot District.

Authorities tracked Mr. Louis to Don Klang Village in Phutthaisong District, where he was apprehended. During his arrest, Mr. Louis confessed to collecting mushrooms as a cover story. His subsequent interrogation revealed that he had been involved in stealing motorcycles to sell to a buyer in Phayakkhaphumiphisai District, Maha Sarakham Province, for 3,000 baht each. The Honda Wave model was highly sought after, while other models were dismantled for spare parts.

Mr. Louis admitted to targeting motorcycles with keys left in the ignition, using them to facilitate further thefts. He confessed to previous thefts in four areas, including Ban Mai Chai Phot and Phutthaisong in Buriram Province, and Phayakkhaphumiphisai and Na Chueak in Maha Sarakham Province.

Police charged Mr. Louis with vehicle theft and drug use, as his urine tested positive for methamphetamine. His criminal history revealed prior convictions for drug offenses and theft, painting a consistent pattern of criminal behavior.
