Bangkok: Muang Thai Life Assurance and the Muang Thai Yim Foundation have taken significant steps to aid vulnerable groups by donating blankets and “Pink Boxes” to the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. This initiative is part of the “MSD Near You” project, aiming to support disadvantaged communities.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sara Lamsam, Chief Executive Officer of Muang Thai Life Assurance Public Company Limited, disclosed that both the company and the Muang Thai Yim Foundation have been closely observing the situation in the Thai-Cambodian border area, which has been impacted by unrest and the anticipated cold spell at the end of 2025. The assessment highlighted the need for blankets and essential supplies in four provinces-Sisaket, Buriram, Surin, and Sa Kaeo. In response, the organizations have donated 500 blankets and 100 “Pink Box” packages to the Ministry for distribution to the affected residents.
The “Pink Box” packages contain daily essentials and hygiene products tailored for vulnerable women, including low-income women, single mothers, pregnant women, the elderly, the disabled, and impoverished families.
The blankets provided are “upcycled blankets,” crafted from 11 recycled 1.5-liter plastic bottles each. This production method uses 59% less energy compared to creating new fibers and cuts greenhouse gas emissions by over 30% per blanket. The initiative supports the circular economy by reducing plastic waste and aligning with government policies to enhance resource efficiency.
The donation event was attended by several notable figures, including Mr. Kitti Intharakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and Ms. Ramrung Worawat, Director General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare. They were joined by Ms. Jittima Kri aree, Ms. Wannapa Sukkhong, and Ms. Suda Suhlong from the Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development. Key representatives from Muang Thai Life Assurance, including Dr. Suthee Mokkhaves, Mr. Pramote Sakkamjorn, and Ms. Pitraporn Boonyaratphan, were also present at the donation ceremony held at the company’s headquarters.
