Muang Thai Life Assurance Marks 11th Year of Muang Thai Smile Foundation with Eyeglass Donation to Elderly

Bangkok: Muang Thai Life Assurance celebrates the 11th anniversary of the Muang Thai Smile Foundation by donating 1,111 pairs of eyeglasses to the elderly. Muang Thai Life Assurance, together with the Muang Thai Yim Foundation, continue their social mission by donating these eyeglasses to the Department of Older Persons, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, to improve the quality of life for the elderly in Thai society. The initiative aims to provide access to appropriate eye care, improving daily life and creating opportunities for a better quality of life.

According to Thai News Agency, the Elderly Eyeglasses Unit Project is an ongoing effort by Muang Thai Life Assurance and the Muang Thai Yim Foundation since 2017. This marks the 7th year of continuous operation, emphasizing health promotion and the well-being of the elderly and those in need. Collaboration with the Hor Waen shop team and eye specialists provides advice on eye care. The Department of Older Persons Affairs plays a crucial role in finding areas and effectively screening those in need. The project has been organized in 62 units nationwide, benefiting over 8,000 people.

This initiative demonstrates Muang Thai Life Assurance's commitment to conducting business with social responsibility, adhering to sustainable development principles, including environmental, social, governance, and economic dimensions. The social aspect focuses on creating benefits for those who require assistance, recognizing the importance of improving the quality of life. Beyond short-term assistance, the project creates opportunities for necessary health services, enhancing the quality of life for the elderly and those in need, enabling them to live confidently and sustainably.

Improved eyesight reduces the risk of accidents like falls and aids in daily activities, which are crucial in delaying Alzheimer's and dementia. The main goal of vision health care for the elderly is to enable smooth reading and writing, stimulating the brain and delaying deterioration without drugs, thereby enhancing happiness and quality of life.

By 2025, the project aims to provide 1,111 pairs of eyeglasses in six units across regions such as Kanchanaburi, Satun, Sakon Nakhon, Nong Bua Lamphu, Mae Hong Son, and Kamphaeng Phet. This will help the elderly and those with vision problems to have a better quality of life and fully participate in social activities.

The special occasion of the Elderly Eyeglasses Unit Project was graced by officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, including Ms. Chatuporn Rojanaphanich and Ms. Ramrung Vorawath, alongside key figures from Muang Thai Life Assurance and Muang Thai Smile Foundation.

This project reflects the genuine concern and social responsibility of Muang Thai Life Assurance and the Muang Thai Smile Foundation. It aligns with their vision of contributing to sustainable societal growth and being a support for people of all ages, in line with the foundation's slogan over the past 11 years: Join in creating smiles for Thai society.
