The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry has urged all museum managers to generate public interest in visiting museums by building creative and innovative programs.
“I urge museum managements to continue to encourage creative and innovative programs so that more people visit museums,” Director General of Culture at the ministry Hilmar Farid said at the opening of the 2022 Museum Quiz Competition (LCCM) here on Monday.
The main task of a museum is to disseminate information related to the nation’s culture, history, and heritage left by the ancestors for future generations of Indonesia, he added.
“Indonesia is a country rich in culture. Every museum must have a program that can be (presented) in a neat way–attractive but still informative–so that people are comfortable to study and stop at the museum amidst their busy schedules,” he said.
One way this can be done is to organize competitions, like the Museum Quiz Competition hosted by the National Museum from September 5 to September 10, 2022, for students of middle level education.
Besides promoting knowledge of history and culture among the public, particularly the younger generation, participants of the Museum Quiz Competition will also compete for floating trophies awarded by the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister.
“There are 32 provinces involved from the results of the selection at their respective levels. I hereby congratulate the National Museum, which regularly organizes the LCCM,” Farid said.
He further said he expected people’s insights into the culture and history of the founding of Indonesia to be broadened. It is also expected that the love of the country would flourish within every citizen’s heart.
“I also wish you a good competition, I hope this activity goes well and accordingly,” Farid added.
