National Police Chief Commends Units for Flood Relief Efforts in Southern Provinces.

Bangkok: The national police chief has expressed gratitude towards all police units for their diligent efforts in assisting those affected by the severe flooding in southern Thailand. Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the national police chief, emphasized the importance of maintaining strong and effective operations to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet has been closely monitoring the flood situation, which continues to impact eight southern provinces, namely Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. The floods have affected a total of 78 districts, 515 sub-districts, and 3,552 villages, impacting 553,921 households and resulting in nine fatalities. Key areas along major rivers, such as Khlong Tha Dee and the Songkhla Lake Basin, remain under close observation to manage rising water levels and prevent further damage.

The coordinated efforts of various police units, including the Prov
incial Police Regions 8 and 9, local police, Central Investigation Police, Tourist Police, and Border Patrol Police, have been crucial in providing timely assistance. These units have been actively involved in ensuring the safety of residents, preventing crime, distributing essential supplies, and facilitating evacuations with the help of flat-bottomed boats. Traffic police have also been instrumental in managing road safety by providing alternate route maps, clearing obstructions, and helping repair infrastructure after floodwaters recede.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat has praised the relentless dedication of police officers in supporting flood victims and safeguarding life and property. He urged them to maintain their vigilance and continue their efforts until normalcy is restored. The national police chief also encouraged communities to reach out for assistance if needed and assured them of the Royal Thai Police’s readiness to provide comprehensive support.
