Bangkok: The NBTC board has acknowledged the allocation of three telecommunication frequency bands to two mobile operators, generating a significant income of 41,273 million baht for the state.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Saran Boonbaichaipruk, Chairman of the NBTC, along with the NBTC Board, announced that the auction of frequency waves went smoothly. The board acknowledged the results, but the final approval awaits the NBTC Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 2nd. The auction, which commenced at 9:30 a.m. and concluded at 10:48 a.m., did not attract any bidders for the 850 MHz frequency waves.
The auction saw Advanced Wireless Network Co., Ltd. secure the 2100 MHz spectrum, acquiring three sets at a price of 14,850 million baht. Meanwhile, True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd. was awarded the 2300 MHz spectrum with seven sets priced at 21,770 million baht. Additionally, True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd. won the 1500 MHz spectrum, obtaining four sets for 4,653 million baht.
The NBTC plans to consider the remaining frequencies, including the 850 MHz band, for the next round of auctions. Furthermore, the demands of the protesters who gathered outside the auction venue will be reviewed at the upcoming NBTC board meeting to ensure all suggestions are duly considered.
