Bangkok: Somsak, Minister of Public Health, revealed that the National Health Security Office (NHSO) is engaged in discussions with Dr. Muenthong regarding delayed subsidy payments. The NHSO acknowledged that the delay was due to adjustments that disrupted the payment schedule.
According to Thai News Agency, Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin addressed the issue involving Maj. Gen. Dr. Noppadol Naenna, Director of Mongkutwattana Hospital, who has not yet received a subsidy from the NHSO. He confirmed that discussions are ongoing with Maj. Gen. Noppadol to resolve the payment delay. The referral system’s complexity, with numerous clinics around the hospital, has contributed to inconsistencies in patient management and registration processes. Somsak suggested that solving these initial problems through adjustments and dialogue should be feasible.
Mr. Somsak noted that the discussions were proceeding positively, indicating the NHSO’s willingness to open more clinics. He emphasized the need for management
to adapt to contemporary demands and various factors. Somsak clarified that the situation is not about assigning blame, but rather about adapting to the expansion of service units. He highlighted that the current healthcare system allows for greater flexibility, with the 30 baht healthcare scheme applicable anytime, anywhere, signaling a need for adaptation.
When questioned about whether Pol. Gen. Dr. Noenthong threatened legal action, Mr. Somsak stated that discussions on reducing or adjusting the management format were underway. The focus is on gathering details for discussion, and from his perspective, the talks are progressing well, though not yet concluded. The discussions aim to address facts and reasons comprehensively.
