Nonthaburi police hold a meeting to expedite the case of a father and son who were brutally attacked by a hazing gang, while the university has already ordered the expulsion of the four students who caused the incident.

Progress in the case of Mr. Tong and Ms. Koi, father and mother of “Nong Title”, 20 years old, first-year students in the Faculty of Engineering at a famous university in Nonthaburi Province, who traveled to file a complaint with the investigation officer at Nonthaburi City Police Station to prosecute a group of senior students who brutally hazing their son and his father after the son asked to withdraw from the hazing system.

Today, Pol. Col. Pratana Paenpha, Commander of Nonthaburi Provincial Police, along with all relevant police units, held a meeting to expedite the case. In addition to the assault on the student and his guardian in the area of ??Nonthaburi City Police Station, there were also incidents of taking university students to hazing outside the campus in 2 other places: 1. A s
ecluded alley next to the bus stop of Thanasiri Village, Rattanathibet, on Rattanathibet Road, Tambon Bang Rak Yai, Amphoe Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi Province; 2. A residence at Baan Ua-Athorn Ratchaphruek, Village 4, Tambon Bang Krang, Amphoe Mueang Nonthaburi, Nonthaburi Province, which is the area under the responsibility of Bang Bua Thong and Bang Si Mueang Police Stations. They are preparing to invite all 4 suspects to acknowledge the charges tomorrow (August 20).

In the case, there is no summons or arrest warrant yet because the perpetrator has requested to contact the police to surrender and has no intention of fleeing. As for the legal case, the police are currently in the process of gathering evidence to press charges. Initially, the perpetrators in this case have been clearly identified, who are all 4 university students who committed the crime.

As for the issue of having hazing in a shady organization like this in the future, the Nonthaburi Provincial Police have already talked to the university
or schools in Nonthaburi Province. They have coordinated with teachers at every school to emphasize that hazing must not have incidents like this.

Four students who assaulted their juniors have been dismissed.

At the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (OSHE), Ms. Suchada Tantra, Secretary to the Minister of MHESI, was the representative to receive a complaint for justice from Mr. Kanthas Pongpaiboonwet, or Kan Jom Phalang, regarding a student from a university in Nonthaburi campus who was assaulted by a senior student. He traveled to seek justice with his family. Kan Jom Phalang asked about the progress of the case against the senior student and called for an investigation into the illegal organization hidden within the university that trained students to commit violent acts and taught them wrong things, such as killing people, punching teachers, and smoking marijuana, through hazing activities in the university, as well as ways to solve the problem.

Th
e student who was assaulted by seniors recounted the events that happened, saying that she was assaulted by seniors on two occasions: on August 13 at around 3:00 PM at the cafeteria, when 2-3 seniors came and accused her of selling out the university, pulled her eyebrows, and dragged her away to attack her with punches, elbows, and knees; and she was assaulted a second time on August 15 at the university, along with her father.

Ms. Suchada then mentioned that there are 4 approaches to solving the problem, consisting of: 1. Those who assaulted the younger students on August 15 must be punished and prosecuted. 2. New information has been received from the students who were assaulted by the seniors that on August 13, they were also assaulted by the same group of seniors who assaulted them on August 15. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation would like the university to review the CCTV footage, evidence, and report the investigation results to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science
, Research and Innovation within 2 days, no later than August 21. If it is found that there was an assault, they must be expelled and prosecuted.

3. The freshman hazing that led to the assault on the younger students on August 13 and 15, there were approximately 40-50 students participating. The university should investigate how many seniors were involved and whether there were any outsiders involved. If the investigation of the freshman hazing found that the university’s rules were not followed, the students who committed the offenses will be expelled from the university. 4. The university should investigate the illegal organization that led the students to train and gave them false teachings, together with Kan Jom Phalang and the students who were assaulted by the seniors, and complete this within August.

An examination of the footage from the internal CCTV cameras found the perpetrators and 8 people who were present at the incident. Of the 8, 4 of them actually assaulted students and punched the guardian
s. They were 2 mechanical engineering students, 1 tool and die engineering student, and 1 electronic and telecommunications engineering student. All 4 were immediately expelled from the university on August 16, with legal action taken. The other 4 were 2 electrical engineering students.
