(Olympics) Tom Kim stays in hunt for men’s golf medal after 54 holes

PGA Tour star Tom Kim remained in the hunt for his first Olympic medal after his third consecutive under-par round Saturday.

Kim shot a two-under 69 in the third round of the men’s golf tournament of the Paris Olympics at Le Golf National in Guyancourt, south of the French capital. He had four birdies against two bogeys.

At 10-under overall, Kim is four strokes behind two co-leaders, the defending champion Xander Schauffele of the United States and former world No. 1 Jon Rahm of Spain.

Kim, in his Olympic debut, is tied with world No. 1 and his close friend, Scottie Scheffler of the United States, and former No. 1 and four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, a Northern Irish star representing Ireland at the Olympics.

One other South Korean player, An Byeong-hun, is tied for 17th at seven-under following a round of 66.

An had a blistering start to his day, making eight birdies through 11 holes to move within one of the lead. But a double bogey at the par-4 13th and a bogey at the par-4 17th took the wind o
ut of his sails.

This is An’s second Olympic appearance. He tied for 11th at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, which remains the best performance by a South Korean male golfer.
