“Pakornwut” complains about the minister avoiding answering the question even though he gave 2 days notice.

Pakornwut’ complains about the minister who skipped out on answering questions, even though he had given 2 days’ notice. He said that if he was serious about it, he could clear his schedule and come. He revealed that there was an attempt to cancel the meeting on 24 Oct.

Mr. Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, MP for the Prachachon Party (P.P.C.) and chairman of the opposition party-list committee (opposition whip), stood up to discuss in the House of Representatives meeting that this week the opposition has a quota of 2 issues, but the minister did not come to answer both issues. It is true that the chairman of the meeting may have said that last week was smooth, but it must be reiterated that the work of the opposition whip these days does not use live issues that are truly live issues. We set up live issues because we want answers from the ministers that are truly useful. Therefore, we coordinated in advance.

‘This week, I have already informed since 18.25 on October 7th which ministry I will ask questions about. Y
ou have about 2 days for the ministers to clear their schedules. I understand that some people are going abroad, it’s fine. But some people have domestic missions. I think if you really value this parliament and come to listen to MPs reflect on their problems and give useful answers, I think you can avoid your schedule to come and answer questions in the parliament,’ said Mr. Pakornwut.

Mr. Pakornwut continued that the Ministry of Defense does not only have Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, but also has assistant ministers. He understands that the assistant ministers are not even in the provinces. Therefore, he does not understand why they cannot come to answer the questions of the opposition MPs. Therefore, he would like to emphasize to the government whip and the Cabinet whip that they should please give importance to the live questions in the parliament. He heard that the minister said that he asked last week, so he thought that he would not ask again this week. He t
hinks that thinking like this is definitely a problem and is confident that thinking like this does not give importance to the questions in the parliament.

‘Another issue is that in this session, we have only a few weeks left before the session ends. In the last week, Thursday, there is no session because the session has ended. Therefore, we only have time to ask questions next week and the week after that. The following week, October 23, is a holiday. I have heard that there are attempts to cancel the session on October 24 as well. Therefore, I expect that the Speaker of the House will call a meeting on October 24 as usual and may ask to discuss holding a meeting on October 24 and October 25 so that the agenda of the House can be cleared and it will be beneficial,’ said Mr. Pakornwut.
