Pathum thani: An order has been issued to transfer the Pathum Thani police chief from his position following a raid on a well-known pub in Rangsit, which resulted in nearly 200 patrons testing positive for drugs. Alongside the chief, five other officers have also been affected by the decision.
According to Thai News Agency, the raid carried out by a special operations unit of the Department of Provincial Administration took place at “Skin Pub Rangsit” in the early hours of August 8, 2568. The establishment was found to be operating without a license and selling alcohol beyond the legal hours. During the operation, random drug tests revealed that 179 patrons tested positive, and seven individuals were underage. The patrons were subsequently arrested and taken to Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station for further investigation.
To ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly and to prevent damage to the government, Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlapakhom Iamwong, Acting Commander of Provincial Police Region 1, invoked powers under the Royal Thai Police Act to transfer six police officers. These include Pol. Col. Yutthana Jonkhun, the Pathum Thani Provincial Police Commander, and several high-ranking officers from the Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station. The transferred officers are now assigned to the Provincial Police Region 1 Operations Center until further notice.
Additionally, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chayanon Meesati has been appointed to act as the new Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police. A fact-finding committee has been set up, and the results of their investigation are expected within a week.
