Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism Visits Women’s Volleyball Championship Venue to Address Flooding Solutions

Muang yamo: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism visited the Women’s Volleyball World Championship stadium in Muang Yamo to monitor flooding solutions. Ms. Nattareeya Thaweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, traveled to the venue for the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Yamo City and offered encouragement to the athletes participating in the competition at Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the main objectives of this visit were to encourage the team staff and cheer on the competition. The Permanent Secretary visited the accommodation and living conditions of the participating athletes, emphasizing safety measures and comprehensive facilities to ensure athletes of all nationalities feel confident and compete to their full potential. Furthermore, she invited the public and tourists to visit Nakhon Ratchasima Province, where they will not only be able to cheer on the Thai women’s volleyball team and other renowned teams from around the world, but also experience the charm of “City of Yamo.” The city is rich in historical, cultural, and natural attractions, such as the Thao Suranari Monument, Wat Sala Loi, Phimai Stone Castle, and Khao Yai National Park, as well as unique local cuisine.

Prior to the visit to the competition, the Permanent Secretary visited the Skywalk construction site in Khao Khuen Lan, Khlong Phai Subdistrict, Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has approved a budget of 63.5 million baht for the landscaping and infrastructure development project to support ecotourism in the area, under the Integrated Tourism Revenue Generation Plan for the 2025 fiscal year.

“This tournament is not only a significant stage for the world of volleyball, but also a golden opportunity to promote Thailand’s image and stimulate tourism,” said Ms. Nattareeya. She emphasized the FIVB Women’s World Championship 2025 as a prestigious sporting event and a platform that reflects the power of friendship, cooperation, and Thai tourism. She invited both Thais and foreigners to visit the tournament and mentioned that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand, in collaboration with the hosting province, will offer free entry to various tourist attractions for ticket holders.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province attended the volleyball match between the Canadian and Spanish national teams. The atmosphere was lively, with both Thai and international spectators cheering for their favorite teams. During halftime, the official song “To Be the Champion” was played, and the Permanent Secretary and the Governor invited the team and supporters to join in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) activities.

Ms. Nattareeya also addressed the issue of social media images showing flooded Chatchai Hall Stadium. The Nakhon Ratchasima governor stated that the problem has been fully addressed with measures such as dredging pipes, putting pumping trucks and reservoirs on standby, deploying manpower, and raising walkways in preparation for the current storm.
