The historical tourist attraction of Pesanggrahan Menumbing has received an enthusiastic response from tourists on the first day of its launch, West Bangka Tourism and Culture Office in Bangka Belitung Islands has informed.
“There were many visitors who came on the first day of this historical tourist destination operation, even until the service hours ended,” head of the office Muhammad Ali said here on Thursday.
According to Ali, many tourists came from outside the region, such as from Kalimantan. The historical destination is expected to attract both domestic and foreign tourists, he added.
A high number of tourist arrivals would increase regional income and thus, help improve the local economy, and especially benefit tourism players, Ali explained.
“It will be much more crowded on Saturday and Sunday,” he remarked.
The existing cooperation program would continue to be pursued, especially in tourism management and marketing, so that tourists want to stay longer in the area, he said.
For instance, under the cooperation, the Education Office will be invited to bring students to Pesanggrahan Menumbing, he informed.
Students’ visit to the exhibition room of Pesanggrahan Menumbing, with the support of digitalization, would increase their knowledge of the nation’s history, Ali elaborated adding, it will also help foster the spirit of nationalism among students.
Meanwhile, West Bangka Office’s head of cultural affairs, Hendra Jaya, said the Pesanggrahan Menumbing showroom encapsulates the spirit of nationalism and displays information and timelines of heroes who were exiled in Mentok.
The Menumbing showroom is open every day from 9 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. local time, with entrance tickets priced at Rp20 thousand for adults and Rp10 thousand for children and students, he informed.
