Bangkok: The Pheu Thai Party is calling on its Members of Parliament to be present for key votes before the parliamentary session ends, emphasizing the importance of upcoming legislative decisions. In a recent meeting, party leaders outlined the necessity for MPs to maintain a quorum for crucial voting sessions scheduled this month.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting, chaired by prominent party figures including Chusak Sirinil, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, and Surawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, stressed the need for cooperation among MPs. Mr. Wisut Chainarun, a party list MP and chairman of the party MPs, highlighted the significance of meetings on October 24-25 and October 30, where important legislative matters such as the draft Rail Transport Act will be voted on. This Act was proposed by Manoporn Charoensri, the Deputy Minister of Transport.
Chusak Sirinil also emphasized the importance of a bill to organize the Ministry of Defense, which was proposed by the opposit
ion. The government, under Sutin Khlangsaeng, a Pheu Thai Party-list MP and former Minister of Defense, had previously supported the consideration of this bill, which aligns with parliamentary regulations. The bill is set to be completed by October 26, but the Cabinet’s recent decision to propose it alongside the opposition’s draft remains unfinished. The resolution to finalize this legislative effort comes as the deadline approaches.
The meeting also included discussions on whether to accept the observations of a Special Committee’s report on drafting the Amnesty Act, a matter which also requires parliamentary attention before the session concludes.
