Bangkok: The Pheu Thai Party has called on the People’s Party to disclose the identities and details of individuals associated with a mysterious audio clip in which an offer to purchase 10 kilograms of cobras was made. The Pheu Thai Party seeks transparency to prevent public confusion and skepticism regarding the matter.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Khattiya Sawatdiphon, a party-list MP and deputy spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, addressed allegations that a mysterious individual had approached her MPs to secure votes for the approval of the 2026 Budget Bill and the Entertainment Complex Act. She released a 13-minute audio clip that hinted at a 10-kilogram payment, allegedly connecting a senior government figure to Pheu Thai. Ms. Khattiya categorically denied any involvement of her party and emphasized the detrimental impact of such claims on both the government and the Pheu Thai Party. She called for an investigation and urged People’s Party MPs to disclose any information that could identify the mysterious individual to maintain confidence in the political system.
Ms. Khattiya further commented on the existing mechanisms available to clarify the truth and questioned why the People’s Party had yet to reveal the necessary information. She stressed that the ongoing ambiguity harms the Pheu Thai Party and warned that failure to disclose the truth would ultimately damage the People’s Party.
In her statement, Ms. Khattiya questioned the nature of the new politics promised by the People’s Party, asking whether it aligned with the ideals of a new-generation party or mirrored traditional political practices. She affirmed that the current government operates in unity, eliminating the need for vote-buying to pass legislation.
