Bangkok: Mr. Phonlaphum Viphatiphumethai, Assistant Minister of Culture, addressed recent claims concerning the Ministry of Culture’s involvement in organizing the “Tomorrowland” music festival in Thailand. He emphasized that the ministry has not received a budget for the event.
According to Thai News Agency, the proposed Tomorrowland project, which is expected to take place in Thailand, falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) proposed the plan and secured approval from the Cabinet, which did not specify any role for the Ministry of Culture in its documents.
Mr. Phonlaphum acknowledged that while the Ministry of Culture is not directly managing the project, it sees the potential benefits such an event could have for Thailand’s cultural industry. He expressed readiness to support initiatives that align with the ministry’s objectives, such as promoting Thai artists and cultural identity on an international stage.
Furthermore, Mr. Phonlaphum urged all parties to verify information from official sources to avoid misunderstandings and preserve the credibility of the involved agencies.
