Phu Quoc – The BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc, a prestigious multi-sport festival, commenced in the island resort city of Phu Quoc in the southern province of Kien Giang on November 17. The event attracted nearly 2,000 athletes from 47 countries and territories, underlining its growing popularity and the island’s potential as a prime sports destination.
According to Vietnam News Agency, jointly organized by Kien Giang’s Department of Culture and Sports, Sunrise Events Vietnam, and BIM Group, the triathlon includes a 1.9 km swim in the sea, a 90 km bike ride on a flat track, and a 21.1 km run. This is the second time the event is being held in Vietnam, showcasing the development of triathlon races in the country and Phu Quoc’s appeal as a regional sports hub.
The event also features the participation of Mark Allen, an American triathlete and six-time Ironman triathlon world champion. According to the event’s organizing committee, the winners of the BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc triathlon event 2023 will qualify for the VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in 2024, further highlighting the significance of this event in the global triathlon calendar.
