Phuket bans black chin tilapia after online orders from Samut Sakhon found

Phuket, Phuket Province does not accept black-chinned tilapia after finding online purchases from Samut Sakhon Province at a price of 50 baht per kilogram. Meanwhile, the Phuket MP has taken action to bury all the black-chinned tilapia to prevent the spread of the disease.

Yesterday, the Monsoon Garbage page posted about black chin tilapia. There was an online order for 50 baht per kilogram. It was placed in a foam box, refrigerated, and was being transported across provinces from Samut Sakhon to Phuket. Be careful of eggs falling into the drains. There is concern that they may spread to the Phuket area. Many Phuket residents commented, and most of them said in unison that Phuket doesn’t want black chin tilapia.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has issued an important announcement on the designation of aquatic animal species that are prohibited from being bred in the Kingdom and the prohibition of releasing black-chinned tilapia into water sources. Anyone who violates the law by breeding black-
chinned tilapia will be prosecuted under Section 144 of the Fisheries Act B.E. 2558, punishable by imprisonment not exceeding 1 year or a fine not exceeding 1 million baht, or both, 20 July 2024.

urgently enact laws prohibiting the breeding or importation into the province. If you want to import, it must be processed (fermented, pickled) only. It must not be in the form of fresh fish.
