According to Thai News Agency, during a lunch break while visiting Sisaket Province, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, who is also acting as the Prime Minister, along with other executives of the Ministry of the Interior, paused to celebrate a special occasion. Before attending a policy meeting aimed at addressing drug problems, Mr. Phumtham took a moment to wish Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, a happy 54th birthday as he steps into his 55th year, presenting him with a birthday cake.
The cake, adorned with nine candles, drew playful remarks from reporters, who teased Mr. Phumtham about the symbolism of progress. In response, Mr. Phumtham humorously questioned, “Where will you go if you progress any further? Will you become a minister?”
Mr. Phumtham expressed his gratitude towards Mr. Arsit, highlighting the significant support he has provided since he assumed the role of Minister of Interior. He commended the Permanent Secretary for aiding in the advancement of key policies and urged him to continue working with determination for the benefit of the people. Mr. Phumtham wished him good health, happiness in his work, and success in achieving his goals.
The report further noted that Mr. Arsit is an alumnus of the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University, “Singdam class 42”, making him a junior to Mr. Phumtham, who graduated from the same faculty, “Singdam class 25”.
